Breast augmentation by lipofilling

Breast augmentation by lipofilling improves the silhouette by getting rid of the surplus fat in the abdomen and thighs and by increasing the breast volume. Thus, two interventions in one.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS (BREAST LIPOFILLING)

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

WHAT IS THE AIM OF FAT INJECTION IN THE BREASTS?

The objective of fat injection in the breasts (or breast lipofilling) is to increase in a definitive manner the breast volume. It is an interesting alternative to breast implants. Your own fat is harvested from the thighs or the abdomen and during the same operation is injected in your breast area to improve the breast volume. This fat is autologous (i.e., coming from your own body) and therefore cannot be rejected by your organism (non-immunogenic). Thus, this intervention has two effects: it slims down the silhouette by liposuction of the body excess fat and increases the breast volume.

TO WHOM CAN THIS INTERVENTION BE PROPOSED?

To all women who would like to increase their breast volume and have some surplus fat in the body.

HOW TO OBTAIN A GOOD RESULT?

A specific preparation of the skin is required (application on the breast skin of a product for a few days before surgery to improve the definitive result). One to two interventions may be needed in function of the desired final breast volume.

WHAT CONSULTATIONS AND EXAMS ARE NEEDED BEFORE THIS INTERVENTION?

You must see your surgeon twice before the operation. A pre-surgery mammography is required. A blood test will be performed to assess your blood coagulation.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA WILL BE USED FOR THIS INTERVENTION?

Usually, general anaesthesia.

HOW LONG DOES A BREAST LIPOFILLING INTERVENTION TAKE?

About 1.5 hours.

WILL I HAVE SCARS?

A very thin hollow tube (2-3 mm in diameter), which will be used to inject the fat, is introduced under the skin through small hidden incisions that do not need stiches. Ultimately, scars are almost not existent.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

From few hours to overnight.

WILL I HAVE TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK?

From one to ten days. However, you recovery time depends on the treated areas and the natural healing capacity of your body.

IS THE INTERVENTION PAINFUL?

After the intervention, breasts are not painful. Pain in thighs and abdomen is usually controlled with painkillers.

WHEN CAN I TAKE A SHOWER AFTER THE OPERATION?

A shower is recommended from the morning after the intervention.

WHAT ARE THE USUAL IMMEDIATE EFFECTS OF THIS SURGERY?

Breasts and the areas where fat was harvested (abdomen, thighs, knees …) are swollen and blueish for about one month. The final result is visible three to four months after the intervention.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR SPECIAL CLOTHES AFTER A BREAST AUGMENTATION BY LIPOFILLING?

Yes, special compression garments must be worn for ten days after the intervention to promote healing of the areas where fat was harvested; they can be taken off for showering. Breasts are left free, without bra or bandages, for ten days.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

Stopping all physical activities is recommended for three weeks.

DO I HAVE TO MASSAGE THE TREATED AREAS OR PUT CREAMS AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

A simple hydrating cream is recommended in the days after the intervention for the breasts and the fat-donor areas. For the fat-donor areas, manual lymphatic drainage is recommended starting from the 7th day after the intervention and then cellu M6 (= « endermology » = « LPG ») may be useful.

Lipofilling, lipostructure, fat injection

The injection of autologous fat (harvested from the patient) is a natural procedure that allows restoring the lost volumes, on the face (such as cheeks or chin) or the body (breast, bottom…).

This procedure can be performed on its own or in association with another technique. For instance, fat injection in the face during a face lift improves the final result and gives back a youthful appearance. In the breast, fat injection is often associated with the insertion of implants with the aim of avoiding imperfections, particularly in slim women (this technique is called «combined»).

[Nota bene: the photographs presented above are only for information purposes. They are the results of a previous intervention. They do not predict in any case a future result.]

WHY IS THE INJECTION OF FAT (“LIPOFILLING”) IMPORTANT?

We know that skin damaged by the sun is regenerated after fat injection, with an increase of its collagen and elastin.

For this reason, lipofilling is a very interesting procedure for our patients. It is performed during almost all face lifts to restore the volumes lost with age and to improve the skin texture.

These are the main benefits. As the injected fat cells belong to the patient (“autologous” fat), there is no rejection or reaction towards a foreign body; the body recognizes and accepts its own cells. There are very few complications. The injected fat cells produce molecules that rejuvenate the skin and facilitate the healing process (stem cells called “Adipose-Derived Stem Cells”).

Face and neck lift surgery

More and more women and men are worried about the appearance of their face. Skin loosening is considered as a sign of ageing. Lift surgery allows rejuvenating the entire or part of the face. The result must be perfectly natural. The "healthy glow" effect and the rested face appearance after this procedure increase the self-esteem.

The face oval (lower part of the cheeks) is the first region that loses its elasticity and sags with time. A face and neck lift corrects this by tightening the skin and by eliminating the excess fat (jowls, double chin). It also restores to the face some lost fullness that gives a more youthful and rested appearance. Modern face lift surgery gives a perfectly natural aspect, without any appearance of tight or pulled face.

Moreover, the simultaneous use of biostimulation with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) improves the skin quality and slows down the appearance of new wrinkles in a particularly efficient manner.

Several techniques – sometimes in association – can be proposed on the basis of the identified problem and of the patient’s needs. Your plastic surgeon will carry out a complete exam to determine the best option for you.

Practically, a good result must be natural, without any evident sign of surgery. Lower face and neck lift are very common procedures that can improve the appearance of a women or a man and can contribute to developing his/her self-esteem. Most patients say that the intervention had a very positive effect on their life.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS (FACE LIFT)

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

WHICH KIND OF EXAMS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE THE INTERVENTION?

A blood test will be performed to assess your blood coagulation. A standard heart exam is recommended.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE INTERVENTION?

Your surgeon will not cut or shave any hair for this intervention.

The first step consists in injecting under the face and neck skin a solution that limits bleeding, reduces the risk of haematoma and pushes deep down the small nerve terminations to protect them.

The scar is always very discreet (in the ear and then it extends for few centimetres in the scalp). A recent technique does not give any visible scar behind the ear, thus allowing women to have any hairstyle type without risk of seeing the scar (technique described by Daniel Marchac in 2002). In conclusion, scars are always very inconspicuous and difficult to detect, including by your hairdresser.

The loosened neck muscles are tightened. The skin is pulled back and the excess is removed. Frequently, the cheek volume is slightly increased in the case of hollowness, as well as the chin volume, if it is recessed (normally by injection of the patient’s own fat harvested under the chin or in the body).

A head bandage is applied around the face and neck for the first night (eyes, nose and mouth are not covered). It is removed the morning after and the head is washed by a nurse helped by a specialized hairdresser.

The patient can leave the clinic the morning after the intervention, without any bandage.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA WILL BE USED?

Most of the time local anaesthetic infusion is used; however, it can be general anaesthesia.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, depending on the type of lift surgery.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

Ambulatory intervention or overnight.

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?

One to two weeks after the intervention.

However, your recovery time depends on the natural healing capacity of your body. Normally, family and friends will not detect any sign of a recent operation, but will notice that the face has a «healthy glow» or a «rested appearance».

WILL I FEEL PAIN AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Pain is usually moderate and can be controlled by painkillers. During the intervention, your surgeon will inject a local anaesthetic in the areas directly affected by the surgical procedure to desensitize them for several hours after surgery.

WHEN CAN I FIRST WASH MY HAIR AFTER FACE AND NECK LIFT SURGERY?

A bandage will cover your head and face during the first night and will be removed the morning after. Hair will be washed the morning after the intervention.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORTS?

Physical activities should be avoided for four weeks.

DO I HAVE TO MASSAGE THE TREATED AREAS OR PUT CREAMS AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

A healing cream is prescribed for the scars.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER FACE AND NECK LIFT SURGERY?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process.  Smoking can also increase the risk of infection and necrosis of the areas directly affected by the surgical procedure. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or stop smoking for one month before and one month after the intervention.

Rhinoplasty

«My nose is too long»
«I do not like my profile»
«I would like to reduce the hump of my nose»
«My nostrils are too large and the tip is too bulbous»

Nose surgery is a very common procedure that can improve the appearance of women and men and contribute to developing their self-esteem. Most patients say that the intervention had a positive effect on their life.

Rhinoplasty allows remodelling the nose to give it a more harmonious shape. In most cases, the nose size is reduced by thinning its tip and by eliminating visible humps on the bridge. Sometimes, it is necessary to reduce the nostril size.

Several techniques – sometimes associated – can be proposed in function of the identified problem and the patient’s aspirations. Your plastic surgeon will carry out a detailed assessment of your nose and your face to determine the better option for you. Practically, a good result must be natural, without obvious signs of surgery and in harmony with the rest of the face.

Rhinoplasty complications are rare, but in about 5% of patients, a new touch-up intervention is required to correct minor irregularities or an asymmetry.

If you are thinking about undergoing surgery on your nose, please read Dr Franchi’s information on cosmetic surgery for the nose (rhinoplasty).

FREQUENT QUESTIONS (RHINOPLASTY)

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

WHICH KIND OF EXAMS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE THE INTERVENTION?

A blood test will be performed to assess your blood coagulation. In specific cases, a specialized ENT («ear-nose-throat») examination is required to study the quality of the nose mucosae and the appearance of the nasal septum.

WILL I HAVE A SCAR?

In most cases, there will be no visible scar because the incision will be done inside the nose.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA WILL BE USED FOR A RHINOPLASTY?

Most often general anaesthesia, but it may be local anaesthetic infusion when the nose bone is not touched.

HOW LONG WILL SURGERY TAKE?

Between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the importance of the operation.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

For 24 hours in the case of complete nose surgery.

A few hours in the case of nose tip correction.

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK AFTER A RHINOPLASTY?

Five to ten days after surgery. However, you recovery time depends on the natural healing capacity of your body.

WILL I FEEL PAIN AFTER SURGERY?

Nose is usually not painful after this intervention.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

All physical activities should be avoided for two weeks after surgery. Contact sports should be stopped for two months after the intervention.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process.  Smoking can also increase the risk of infection of the areas directly affected by the surgical procedure. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or stop smoking for one month before and one month after the intervention.

Eyelid surgery

«I look always tired, although I am very fit»
«I have bags under my eyes»
«My sagging eyelids bother me when I put on make-up»

Eyelid surgery is a simple intervention that brings immediate and extremely rewarding results for the patients.

It gives a brighter, more open look and eliminates the tired and sad-looking appearance about which patients frequently complain. The technical progress in the last years allows obtaining a more natural result with fewer complications. This intervention may concern only the upper eyelids, only the lower eyelids or the four eyelids.

Dark circles and hollowness under the eyes give a sad-looking and tired face, even when one feels perfectly well. This can be reduced by micro-lipofilling, a procedure whereby fat micro-particles are injected to give back volume to the areas that appear hollow. This technique, called under-eye lipofilling, can be used also to fill in facial wrinkles, hollows and lines. Moreover, fat injections improve the skin quality through the regenerative effect of stem cells that are naturally present in our fat (biostimulation).

Eyelid surgery (called blepharoplasty) is perfect to give to your eyes a fresh and radiant appearance!

FREQUENT QUESTIONS (UPPER EYELIDS)

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

This intervention removes the surplus skin and protruding fat bag that give to the eyelids a «heavy», «thick» appearance. This simple intervention is often enough for correcting the tired eye expression. Several techniques – sometimes associated – can be proposed in function of the identified problem and the patient’s aspirations. Your plastic surgeon will carry out a complete assessment to determine the better option for you. Practically, a good result must be natural, without obvious signs of surgery.

WHICH KIND OF EXAMS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE THE INTERVENTION?

A blood test will be performed to assess your blood coagulation. A standard eye examination is carried out before this intervention.

WILL I HAVE A SCAR?

The incision is done in such a manner as to place the scar in the natural fold of the eyelid, thus making this scar invisible.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA IS REQUIRED?

Most often local anaesthesia will be used with or without infusion. It may be general.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

About 30 minutes for the two upper eyelids.

About 1 hour for the four eyelids.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

Few hours (ambulatory intervention: admission in the morning and departure a few hours after the intervention).

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?

Six to eight days after the intervention. However, you recovery time depends on the natural healing capacity of your body.

WILL I FEEL PAIN AFTER SURGERY OF THE UPPER EYELIDS?

Normally there is no pain after this intervention.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

Physical activities should be avoided for two weeks.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or stop smoking in the weeks before and after the operation.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS (LOWER EYELIDS)

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

As times goes by, fat pockets can develop in the area of the lower eyelids that make your eyes look baggy and tired. In most patients, surplus skin in the lower eyelid is minimal and does not need to be removed; only the protruding fat will be eliminated. A little incision hidden in the inner part (mucosa) of the eyelid allows the easy removal of the surplus fat («transconjunctival blepharoplasty»).

This is a very common intervention that does not leave any scar on the skin and healing is usually fast. In the rare cases when surplus skin also must be removed, the incision is done under the implantation line of the eyelashes, which makes the scar rapidly very inconspicuous.

During this operation, the skin and the muscle of the lower eyelid are tightened and the fat pocket is removed.

When only the fat pocket is removed (which is the case for most patients) there is no visible scar because a little incision hidden on the inner part – mucosa - of the eyelid allows the easy removal of this fat. This procedure is called «transconjunctival blepharoplasty». In the rare cases when surplus skin also must be removed, the incision is done under the implantation line of the eyelashes, which makes the scar rapidly very inconspicuous.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA WILL BE USED?

Most often local anaesthesia with or without infusion. It may be general.

HOW LONG WILL SURGERY TAKE?

Between 20 and 30 minutes according to the technique.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

Few hours (ambulatory intervention: admission in the morning and departure a few hours after surgery).

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?

Six to eight days after the intervention. However, you recovery time depends on the natural healing capacity of your body.

WILL I FEEL PAIN AFTER SURGERY OF THE LOWER EYELIDS?

Normally there is no pain after this intervention.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

Physical activities should be avoided for two weeks.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or stop smoking in the weeks before and after the operation.

Breast augmentation by using implants without visible scar

«I never had a nice bust»
«My breasts are empty, they are falling down»
«After the pregnancies and breast-feeding, I lost my breasts»

A breast augmentation – or augmentation mammoplasty to employ the technical term – is a surgical procedure that uses implants or fat harvested from the patient’s own body to improve the size and shape of a woman’s breasts.

The introduction of a silicone breast implant, associated with injection of fat (from the patient’s body), is currently the technique that gives the most natural results: it is called combined mammary augmentation. This gives a much improved cosmetic result and the implants cannot be detected. The implants are placed before the pectoralis muscle (which is the natural position of the mammary gland) and during the same operation, the injected fat is evenly spread (nappage) between the implant and skin. This procedure is particularly suitable for slim women because this nappage of fat perfectly conceals the implants. Moreover, fat injections improve the skin quality thanks to the regenerative effects of the stem cells that are naturally present in our fat (biostimulation).

[Nota bene: the photographs presented above are only for information purposes. They are the results of a previous intervention. They do not predict in any case a future result.]

FREQUENT QUESTIONS (BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS)

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

WHAT IS THE AIM OF BREAST AUGMENTATION?

This intervention will give volume to the bust thanks to the placement behind the breast of implants filled with a gel. In some cases, the implant is not needed and can be replaced by fat harvested from the patient’s own body (thighs, bottom, belly…).

When implants are used, Dr Franchi is among the surgeons who have chosen the revolutionary American innovation called «Keller Funnel®» that allows inserting the implants by reducing the risk of complications. This procedure allows introducing the implant without risk of damage. The risk of infection and of capsular contraction is also reduced. The skin is not traumatized and the final scar is therefore nicer.

WHICH KIND OF EXAMS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE THE INTERVENTION?

A pre-surgery mammography is obligatory. A blood test will be performed to assess your blood coagulation.

WILL I HAVE A SCAR?

Yes, there will always be a scar; however, everything is done to make it, if possible, not visible: placed in the areola, hidden in the fold under the breast or under the arm. Its position will be chosen during the consultation, after discussion with Dr Franchi.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA WILL BE USED FOR A BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Most often general anaesthesia, but in some cases it could be a local anaesthetic infusion.

HOW LONG WILL SURGERY TAKE?

About 1 hour.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

From few hours (ambulatory surgery) to 24 hours (admission in the morning of the intervention and departure the morning after) according to the type of surgery.

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?

After three to ten days. However, you recovery time depends on the type of intervention and the natural healing capacity of your body.

WILL I FEEL PAIN AFTER THE OPERATION?

Pain is normally moderated and controlled by painkillers.

WHEN CAN I TAKE A SHOWER AFTER A BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS?

A shower is recommended already on the morning after the intervention.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A BRA AFTER THE OPERATION?

No bra should be worn during the first month and then all bra types are allowed.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

Stopping all physical activities involving the upper part of the body is recommended for one month. Similarly, heavy weights should not be lifted for the same amount of time. «If it is painful, I do not do it».

DO I HAVE TO MASSAGE MY BREASTS OR PUT CREAMS AFTER THE OPERATION?

A simple hydrating cream is recommended for few days after surgery.

CAN I TRUST IMPLANTS MADE OF SILICONE GEL?

All implants proposed by Dr Franchi are high-quality and last-generation implants. Most implants carry a life-long guarantee by the manufacturer. In the unlikely case of implant rupture, new implants will be given free of charge. You will receive a guarantee card that will give you the right to a life-long insurance for your implants.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process.  Smoking can also increase the risk of infection in the area concerned by surgery. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or stop smoking in the weeks before and after the intervention.

OUR PLEDGE

Dr Franchi’s team will give you the best quality of care. We promise to take care of you before, during and after your breast augmentation. You can be sure that Dr Franchi will be the surgeon who will personally perform the totality of your operation.

A LIFE-LONG FOLLOW-UP

Dr Franchi follows all his patients in the long term. We suggest you to consult him whenever you feel the need. You may see your surgeon at any moment after surgery.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR BREAST IMPLANTS?

In France, three types of implants are available:

  1. implants filled with silicone gel
  2. implants filled with physiological saline solution
  3. implants filled with hydrogel (carboxy-methyl-cellulose)

Implants filled with silicone gel (1.) give the most natural results. The new generations of silicone gel have a thicker consistence and maintain the shape in the case of implant envelope rupture (the gel does not leak into the body).

The new-generation implants offer a large range of sizes and shapes.

You will choose, in close collaboration with your surgeon, implants that are perfectly adapted to your morphology, in function of the initial shape of your breasts, your silhouette and your wishes. Dr Gérald Franchi offers you a study using the 3D software CRISALIX® that allow choosing with precision the best breast implants for you as well as the implant shape and volume in function of your wishes and your morphology.

WHAT ARE THE LONG-TERM CONSEQUENCES OF BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Breast augmentation is a long-term commitment and a new surgical intervention may be required later, after the first intervention. It is currently recommended to change implants every ten years. You must be aware that a new intervention to change your breast implants may be needed in the future.

Breast lift without implants

Breast lift (or "mastopexy" or "treatment for raising sagging breasts") is a very common procedure that can improve a woman’s appearance and contribute to developing her self-esteem. Most women say that the intervention had a very positive effect on their life.

This intervention pushes up and firms sagging breasts by taking away the excess skin and by tightening the breast tissue to give a more youthful appearance and improve the silhouette.

Pain is normally moderate and easily controlled by painkillers.

WHEN CAN I TAKE THE FIRST SHOWER AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

A shower is recommended already on the morning after the intervention.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A BRA AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Yes, a wireless bra should be worn during the first month and then all bra types are authorized.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

Stopping all physical activities involving the upper part of the body is recommended for one month. Similarly, heavy weights should not be lifted for the same amount of time.

DO I HAVE TO MASSAGE MY BREASTS OR PUT CREAMS AFTER THE OPERATION?

A simple hydrating cream is recommended for few days after the intervention. A hydrating cream is also recommended before the intervention. Breasts should not be massaged for the first month after surgery.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process.  Smoking can also increase the risk of infection in the area concerned by surgery. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or, preferably, to stop smoking in the weeks before and after the intervention.

Liposuction, liposculpture, Brazilian lift

«Despite dieting, I cannot lose my fat»
« My thighs are huge and flabby»
«I am a size 38 on top and a size 42 on the bottom»

Liposuction (or liposculpture, lipoplasty, lipomodelling, lipo-soft) is a very common procedure that can improve the appearance of a women or a man and contribute to developing their self-esteem. Most patients say that the intervention had a very positive effect on their life.

Fat is harvested from a part of your own body where it is in excess (hips, abdomen, thighs…). It is removed with a cannula: a hollow, sterile tube of a few millimetres in diameter is linked to a vacuum system that aspirates the surplus fat cells. The cannula is inserted through a small incision in the skin, hidden in the natural skin folds. This technique allows the definitive removal of the annoying fat deposits and gives a slimmer and more harmonious silhouette.

Soft liposuction or «lipo-soft» is an old technique that uses a fine cannula linked to a syringe to aspirates the fat; it is often performed under local anaesthesia. All body regions can be remodelled, from the ankles to the neck.

Liposuction can be used alone or in association with another technique, such abdominoplasty or breast lift surgery.

Results depend essentially on the skin quality. Liposuction does not improve the orange peel appearance of the thigh skin. It is not a technique for losing weight, but only to improve the silhouette. Your surgeon will help you to determine whether liposuction is suitable for you.
To improve your silhouette, you should choose a soft liposuction.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Please, remember that only a consultation with a plastic surgeon can give you personalized information.

WHICH KIND OF EXAMS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE A LIPOSUCTION?

A blood test will be performed to assess your blood coagulation.

WILL I HAVE SCARS?

The sterile cannula is inserted under the skin through a small incision, hidden in the natural skin folds. Therefore, scars are very small (about 1 cm) and almost invisible.

HOW ABOUT THE RISK OF IRREGULARITIES OF THE SKIN SURFACE ("wavy appearance")?

With the new technique of skin smoothing from the interior, there is no danger of skin irregularities. During the intervention, the skin can be smoothened from the interior, which avoids all problems of skin irregularity and of “wavy appearance”.

WHAT KIND OF ANAESTHESIA WILL BE USED?

Anaesthesia can be general or local.

HOW LONG WILL A LIPOSUCTION TAKE?

Between 1 and 2 hours in function of the number of treated areas and the quantity of fat removed.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY AT THE CLINIC?

From few hours to overnight.

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?

After one to ten days. However, you recovery time depends on the treated areas and the natural healing capacity of your body.

WILL I FEEL PAIN AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

Pain is normally controlled by painkillers.

WHEN CAN I TAKE THE FIRST SHOWER AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

A shower is recommended already on the morning after the intervention.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR SPECIAL CLOTHING AFTER A LIPOSUCTION?

Yes, a special compression garment should be worn for ten days after the intervention; it can be taken off for showering.

MUST I STOP DOING SPORT?

All physical activities should be avoided for three weeks.

DO I HAVE TO MASSAGE THE TREATED AREAS OR PUT CREAMS AFTER A LIPOSUCTION?

A simple hydrating cream is recommended for few days after the intervention. Manual lymphatic drainages are recommended from the 7th day after the procedure and then cellu M6 («endermology») may be useful.

DO I HAVE TO STOP SMOKING BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERVENTION?

Smoking can increase the risk of infection of the respiratory tract and can slow down the healing process.  Smoking can also increase the risk of infection in the areas concerned by surgery. If you smoke, we will ask you to reduce or, preferably, to stop smoking in the weeks before and after the intervention.

WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN LIFT?

The Brazilian lift of the bottom or «Brazilian butt lift» consists in increasing the bottom volume by injection of your own fat. It allows remodelling the silhouette by removing the localized fat deposits that persist even after dieting. Therefore, it is two interventions in one: augmentation of the bottom volume and slimming down of abdomen and thighs.

This intervention will give you the round bottom you wanted. It is very frequently asked and it is replacing bottom implants because it gives very few complications.
